Plymouth businesses that sell age-restricted products and services are being give free training on how to prevent youngsters getting hold of items they shouldn't  and businesses getting a fine.  Plymouth City Council's Public Protection Service is offering the training to proprietors of corner shops, sunbed salons, newsagents, supermarkets, off-licences, public houses, amusement arcades and tattoo parlours.

Consumers in Somerset can now ‘Buy With Confidence’ from businesses approved by Somerset County Council’s newly launched scheme. Taunton Museum hosted the official launch of the Buy With Confidence scheme run by Devon & Somerset Trading Standards Service on Wednesday 8th May.   Seventeen businesses approved as members were personally congratulated by Councillors David Hall and Roger Croad of Somerset and Devon County Councils respectively on being awarded membership of the scheme.

This toolkit is designed for Businesses supplying Indian and Chinese foods. It is aimed to deliver:  

  • Education for the business (re: balance the meal in terms of salt and fat, allergens)
  • Help to adapt the menu (looking at appetisers, mains and dessert)
  • Strategies to sell appropriately (display, pricing and marketing)

Section 75 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 makes it an offence to sell, supply or offer to sell or supply, or expose for sale an unroadworthy vehicle. It is also an offence to repair/service a vehicle and leave it in an unroadworthy state.  Find further guidance for Businesses attached.
